Qualifications and Competencies:

The Director, Legal Services will provide strong leadership and expert legal advisory services on a broad range of organizational matters including licensee conduct, licensing, and practice; regulatory frameworks; contracts; and other matters as required. THE ROLE
As the Senior Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property, you will:
Support the development of an integrated offensive and defensive legal strategy to drive and protect the business.
Acquire, maintain, and protect Aritzia’s trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
Protect our IP rights and secure usage rights from third parties to further cross-functional strategic objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional business partners to proactively protect and maximize the value of our IP portfolio.
Support the management of Aritzia’s Intellectual Property litigation.
Work with the appropriate Business Support partners to seamlessly lead the day-to-day function of the department in support of corporate objectives, while enabling progressive career development and an incredible employee experience.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
The Senior Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property has:
Law degree from a recognized university
License to practice law in Canada or the US
Recent experience and knowledge of Intellectual Property laws, regulations, and enforcement practices
A commitment to learn and apply Aritzia's Values and Business and People Leadership principles
The ability to collaborate fluently with cross-functional partners
A commitment to quality and investing in results that add value to the business
THE COMPENSATION
The typical hiring range for this position is $160,000-190,000 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Additionally, this position may be eligible for bonus.

Supporting Pomerleau’s bid teams, advising on procurement and tendering matters (public and private), bid compliance, and negotiation, including leading and/or participating in commercially confidential meetings
Working with the legal and commercial teams to develop, update and improve Pomerleau’s standard contracting processes and precedents
Retaining, coordinating and collaborating with external legal counsel
Any other associated tasks relating to the operations of the Pomerleau and its subsidiaries
What YOU Will Bring
Hold a juris doctorate, or bachelor’s degree in law, and be a member of the Law Society of Ontario
Have 4-5+ years of experience in corporate and commercial law
Demonstrate relevant experience with PPP-type contractual arrangements
Excellent negotiation and legal argumentation skills, both verbally and in writing
You thrive working in a collaborative and team environment
You are a self-starter and not afraid to be resourceful and ask questions
Ability to travel to various regions in Canada where work representation may be required
