The opportunity:
At KPMG Law we have deep knowledge and experience in Canadian tax law, providing domestic and international organizations with an informed perspective through our planning advice. We support our clients at all levels of dispute with Canadian taxing authorities, ranging from tax audit responses to litigation in the Tax Court of Canada and beyond.
We are currently seeking a Law Senior Associate to join our Calgary office to develop their technical tax skills, work with new clients across a range of industries, expand their internal and external networks and be a key member in the growth of our practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse and intellectually challenging files that involve all aspects of income tax planning.

Since our approach is to be an integrated multidisciplinary firm, our team of lawyers work closely with accountants on client engagements in other tax practice areas.

What you will do
- Work closely with other members of our team to provide income tax planning advice to clients
- Provide advice to clients on a wide range of domestic, inbound and outbound income taxation issues affecting business operations conducted in Canada, the U.S. and abroad
- Conduct income tax due diligence and structuring of, in a tax-efficient manner, investments, financings, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and complex reorganizations both within the domestic and cross-border context
- Research and draft memoranda and legal opinions on various income tax issues
At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.
What you bring to the role
- A member in good standing of the Alberta bar.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a practical and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
