Job Description

Parlee McLaws LLP is a well-established law firm with over 125 years of experience here in Alberta and we’re looking for an experienced Corporate/Commercial Legal Assistant to support a team of lawyers with a variety of legal and administration tasks. The ideal candidate is highly organized, takes initiative, and is customer service oriented. We are also looking for candidates with wills & estates experience to assist with cross-training. Position Overview:

  • Draft, proofread, and finalize a variety of legal documents relating to multiple types of business transactions and real estate transactions
  • There may also be a requirement to assist with immigration law as required
  • Ensure large volumes of time entry, preparation of accounts and billing are completed on a timely basis
  • Ensure large volumes of documents and emails are saved to each file
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings and appointments
  • Manage workflow for a team of lawyers
  • General administrative tasks including office and file management
  • Other administrative tasks as required


  • 5 years or more years of relative experience legal experience in the corporate practice area
  • Previous wills & estates experience and/or immigration law is a strong asset
  • Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program
  • Experience with Worldox and Elite is an asset
  • Highly reliable and possesses professional demeanor
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office programs
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Exhibit attention to detail and is committed to producing accurate and high-quality work
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines with a high degree of personal initiative
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Strong customer service and relationship building skills
  • Readily adapt to changing priorities and effectively work in a changing and high-volume work environment
  • Possess problem solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
