You As a Legal Counsel, Employment Will

  • Be responsible for all negotiations and settlement processes related to employment disputes
  • Draft, review & interpret legal documentation pertaining to employment law
  • Assess risk and provide recommendations throughout the organization for action to be taken as it pertains to employment
  • Creating and identifying areas of improvement within EllisDon's employment relations process
  • Partner with People & Culture to advise leaders within all levels of the organization
  • Direct compliance with laws related to employment
  • Advise on employment laws and regulations across Canada
  • Communicate with internal clients & external counsel
  • Assist other members of EllisDon's Legal team when relevant

Is this the right role for you?

  • 2-3 years of experience working in employment law as a lawyer/legal counsel
  • Called to the Ontario Bar and licensed to practice law in the province of Ontario
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong verbal and written communication skills in French are an asset
  • Good sense of judgement & a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment/industry
  • Experience within the construction industry is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of employment law in other provinces (ie. BC, AB) is an asset
  • An appetite to learn more beyond employment law & grow a skillset in corporate law
