In alignment with the Law Society’s vision, mission, and strategic plan, the Tribunal Office provides support to adjudicative tribunals that operate within the Law Society pursuant to the Legal Profession Act of Alberta. The Complaint Dismissal Appeals Coordinator (CDA Coordinator) will coordinate all aspects of the Complaint Dismissal Appeals process which occurs on a regular basis. The CDA Coordinator may also provide back-up support to the Pre-Hearing Coordinator and must be capable of performing the Pre-Hearing Coordinator’s duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain a collaborative relationship and coordinate as necessary with other departments, committees and staff.
Maintain professional working relationships with the President, President-Elect, Benchers, committee volunteers, adjudicators, and all Law Society staff.

Qualifications
Administrative or Legal Assistant Diploma, Paralegal diploma and minimum of five years of relevant experience

Enforcement Division 6-month Fixed-Term Contract
The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. The Enforcement Division of the Ontario Securities Commission investigates and litigates breaches of securities laws in Ontario. The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The Enforcement Division of the Ontario Securities Commission investigates and litigates breaches of securities laws in Ontario. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provides support to Investigators and Litigation Counsel on investigations into allegations of misconduct and securities law violations.
Researches, locates and retrieves civil/criminal files and records.
Reviews and analyzes evidence and documents, identifying key and potential privileged documents, for purposes of preparing summary reports for review by investigator/counsel.
Assembles and organizes relevant documentary evidence from multiple sources for specific files, compiling interview transcripts, preparing control indexes, and drafting /revising documents.
Provides support in the preparation of search warrants, information to obtain, production orders, affidavits, orders and directions, maintaining files, and tracking summonses and responses.
Works with investigative team to review, address and submit requests for assistance from other regulators across Canada and internationally.
Prepares documentary briefs for disclosure and use in evidence.
Reviews and organizes relevant electronic disclosure documents, ensuring materials are scanned, indexes are prepared, affidavits of service are prepared and ensuring electronic tools are effectively utilized and duplicates eliminated.
Redacts personal and confidential information in accordance with practice directions and law to ensure personal and confidential information is protected.
Provides support to litigation counsel to facilitate motions, hearings, trials, sentencing; appeals, and post hearings/trials.
Prepares, serves and files motions/application materials, with the Commission and the Courts.
Prepares correspondence, pleadings documents and settlement/appeal submissions.
Provides support in the review of transcripts/witness summaries, identifying discrepancies, updating charts, providing schedules and preparing binders.
Serves, receives and files court documents as required.
Prepares eHearing briefing indexes in partnership with eDiscovery and Analytics team.
Conducts research and ensures necessary documents are procured and copied.
Ensures evidence documents/materials are assembled, available and maintained.
Attends hearings/trials, handling exhibit documents/materials, running hearing database, and maintaining proceedings logs.
Testifies before a Panel of Commissioners during the course of hearings.
Recognized as a Commissioner of Oaths.
Manages documents/files/materials to support motions, trials, hearings, appeals, and post hearings/trials.
Prepares, reviews and organizes court documents, briefs, summons and affidavit documents, warrants, and submissions for hearings, trials, and post hearings/trials.
Ensures all relevant documents and redactions are captured electronically.
Liaises with witnesses, opposing counsel, Secretary’s Office and court reporters.
Manages file closing activities, ensuring files are indexed and organized for storage and that filing system meets Branch requirements.
Manages Reciprocal Order hearings, selecting cases to be brought forward for reciprocation consideration.
Reviews orders and consults with partners for cases in other jurisdictions to conduct case selection and, if appropriate, bring matters forward for reciprocal proceedings.
Analyzes information/data, identifying appropriate matters for reciprocation using established criteria.
Prepares correspondence and ensures all filings and service are completed as required.

Minimum of 3 years of post-call experience gained from a top-tier law firm and/or large in-house legal department.
Broad and extensive commercial experience in an in-house environment supporting various business stakeholders including IT, marketing and retail operations.
Experience working in a regulated industry and/or public-sector preferred.
Substantive knowledge in beverage-alcohol regulations, cybersecurity, and privacy (FIPPA) an asset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, pragmatism, and the ability to build relationships with colleagues and internal clients.
Strong business acumen, the ability to work independently, analytical capabilities, and a strategic mindset.
Experience managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.

Draft, review and advise a wide range of commercial agreements including contracts for procurement, logistics, equipment supply, confidentiality protection, advertising agencies, talent, sponsorships, and promotional activities.
Provide legal advice and business counsel in connection with a wide range of business activities, such as product innovation, food law, advertising, consumer issues, media placements, privacy law, policy compliance, corporate communications, special situations, education and training, trademarks and copyrights, strategy, and general business issues that arise in connection with the matters highlighted above.
Create, implement, and manage processes to timely review and revise contest and promotion rules, including integrated creative and advertising copy, using identified legal standards, to ensure consistency of approach while achieving legal compliance of Kraft Heinz promotional programs.
Take responsibility for complex and corporate scale promotions.
Manage department document management, corporate governance and compliance functions through good file and database management. Maintain corporate status by preparing and filing relevant annual documents for Kraft Heinz Canada ULC and all related Canadian entities, while maintaining corporate minute books for Kraft Heinz Canada ULC and all related Canadian entities. Prepare, file and maintain all provincial business name registrations as required. Draft various director and shareholder resolutions, prepare and file lobbyist registration renewals, and other regulatory matters as needed.
