The HIV & AIDS Legal Clinic Ontario (HALCO) is a community legal clinic serving the legal needs of
people living with HIV in Ontario. HALCO staff provide legal advice and representation, and engage in
public legal education, law reform and community development activities. We are seeking a staff lawyer
commencing in summer 2024. The lawyer will able to split their time between working in the office and
working remotely (precise schedule to be determined).

Responsibilities
The staff lawyer will provide advice, referrals, brief services, and representation in relation to
various issues, including income maintenance, human rights, privacy and health law. The lawyer
may have the opportunity to participate in the clinic’s public legal education, law reform and
community development initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
• Knowledge of clinic/poverty law
• Experience working with equity-seeking communities
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of HIV-affected communities
• Fluency in French
Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 range (commensurate with experience), employer supported RRSP
(5.5% of annual salary) and benefits
