Located in Calgary and reporting to the Head of AP Legal (Canada), you will provide legal support to the Canadian BASF Agricultural Solutions business.

 

 

Formula for Success: You Will…

 

 

  • Provide holistic legal support for the crop protection and digital farming businesses (and other business divisions, as required).

 

  • Engage regularly with various local, regional and global stakeholders in respect of business strategy and objectives.

 

  • Engage with the business (and colleagues throughout the broader organization) on a dynamic range of legal matters including:

 

Contracts

 

Advertising

 

Marketing programs

 

Contests

 

Land matters (including leasing)

 

Issue management

 

Claims, disputes, litigation

 

Data related agreements and transactions

 

Various internal and external projects and transactions

 

Provide legal training and tutorials

 

Retain and manage external legal counsel

 

Be a key member of the BASF Canada Legal Team

 

Perform other duties, as required

 

Qualifications


 

 

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

 

 

  • J.D. or LL.B. degree.

 

    • Active member in good standing with the
Law Society of Alberta.

 

Minimum of 7 years
  • legal experience that includes proficiency with a vast array of corporate/commercial matters.

 

  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

 

  • Strong business acumen; exemplary issue management skills.

 

  • Considerable skill and ability to handle many projects simultaneously, to manage multiple tight deadlines, and to prioritize effectively.

 

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

 

Prior
  • (i) in-house experience; (ii) experience in the fields of crop protection, seed treatment, seeds and traits and/or plant biotechnology; (iii) competition law experience, will be considered an asset.
