Providing legal advice to City departments and related Boards and handling a broad range of corporate commercial matters, including:

  • Public procurement (including construction, engineering and information technology acquisitions)
  • Inter-Governmental Agreements and Relations (including major public infrastructure projects, indigenous relations matters, sport hosting matters)
  • Funding and grant agreements (including capital grants, sponsorship agreements, and major infrastructure agreements)
  • General corporate commercial advice (including corporate law, intellectual property law, banking/finance law, energy/public utilities law)
  • Municipal law matters (including Council matters, as well as municipal corporate powers, bylaws, and policies work)
  • Special project work (including assistance to Council and staff on implementing new initiatives requiring specialized procurement and/or contractual documentation)

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A Professional Law Degree and membership in the Law Society of BC
  • A preferred minimum 5 years’ current related experience

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the proven ability to manage conflict situations effectively
  • Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a multiple task environment
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage law office technology to increase productivity

 

 

The City of Vancouver has a COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy.
