Job Summary

AECOM Design and Consulting Services Group is actively seeking a Contract Administrator to join the Americas Legal Department in its Montreal office.

This position affords the ideal Candidate the following:

  • Opportunity to join an in-house corporate legal team of a Fortune 500 company.

  • Collaboration with a group of highly trained attorneys, multidisciplinary engineers, architects, technical professionals, scientists, and business managers, among others.

  • Exposure to a variety of regional, national, and global projects of varying complexity.

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of professional services (engineering, architecture, environmental, and other technical services) and construction-related agreements.

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating prime contracts, subcontracts, joint venture agreements, teaming agreements, and non-disclosure agreements, among other types.

  • Providing concise contract review summary of the observed risk items in light of the company policies.

  • Working cooperatively with diverse group of professionals, including the company’s executives, attorneys, risk and insurance managers, engineers, scientists and contracts staff, as well as the ability to work with attorneys for external clients and subcontractors, risk managers, project managers, procurement and contracts staff, and others.

  • Act in an advisory capacity making recommendations that may have an important bearing on the conduct of the organization's business.

  • Review and conduct research into cases and legal precedents to the extent required to address contract-specific or other matters.

  • Prepare and review legal memoranda and briefs relating to organizational activities.

  • Guidance on risk management and adherence to company policies.

  • Using an online database to document the review and coordinate work with other members of the contracts review team.

  • Provide support to multiple offices.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 years of demonstrated legal experience in the areas of engineering and construction law or demonstrated equivalency of education/and or experience.


  • Demonstrated extensive drafting and negotiation experience involving professional services and construction related agreements.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills in French and English.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LL.B. degree or equivalent.

  • Licensed to practice law in the Province of Quebec.

  • Well-developed communications skills; ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and analysis as it pertains to business and technical concerns to executive management, commercial and finance colleagues, technical colleagues and peers.

  • Self-driven & resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groups.

  • Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.

  • Experience working in a matrixed global and/or Fortune 500 organization

  • Ability to generate ideas, make recommendations & come to consensus.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely express legal issues and concepts.

  • Desire to learn about professional service contracts and develop negotiating skills

  • Self-driven & resourceful to achieve goals independently and in groups.

  • Flexibility to adjust and thrive in an environment with changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.

  • Ability to generate ideas, make recommendations & come to a consensus.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively and efficiently.

  • Ability to demonstrate creativity in reaching agreement with clients and subcontractors.

  • Ability to access risk related to contractual terms and guide risk mitigation planning.

  • High degree of professionalism and dedication.
