About the Role The successful candidate will play an important role in managing legal documentation, supporting franchise operations, coordinating with external counsel, and ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable legislation and internal policies. Key Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Drafting, reviewing, revising, and administering a wide variety of commercial agreements, including franchise agreements, supplier contracts, service agreements, leases, and other business contracts. Assisting with legal research involving corporate, commercial, franchise, employment, and regulatory matters. Preparing legal correspondence, notices, reports, and supporting documentation. Coordinating litigation files and serving as the primary liaison with external legal counsel when required. Supporting franchise compliance initiatives, operational issues, default management, and dispute resolution processes. Reviewing internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation. Maintaining corporate records, legal databases, contract repositories, and confidential legal files. Assisting with franchise development activities, including new franchise openings, ownership transfers, renewals, amendments, and terminations. Providing legal support to corporate departments on day-to-day operational and compliance matters. Participating in additional legal and administrative projects as assigned by senior management. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: A diploma in Paralegal Studies from a recognized post-secondary institution. A bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, Political Science, Criminology, or a related discipline is considered an asset. Three to five years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm. Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. Knowledge of franchise law is highly desirable. Additional exposure to corporate law, commercial leasing, real estate, or employment law is considered an asset. Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written communication, proofreading, and organizational skills. Advanced attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and confidential information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and legal document management systems.
