Upon training completion and satisfactory performance, WCAT’s work at home agreement allows for working from home up to a maximum of two days per week. WCAT is an independent, quasi-judicial tribunal that operates under Part 7 of the Workers Compensation Act. It provides a final decision on applications and appeals from parties who are not satisfied with a decision they received from WorkSafeBC. Topics include, compensation claims, employer assessments, occupational safety and health, prohibited action claims, applications by employers for relief of costs, and certifications to court. These decisions impact thousands of workers and employers in B.C. every year. Job Summary WCAT is seeking a legal administrative assistant to provide legal secretarial and administrative support services to the vice chair, tribunal counsel, vice chair quality assurance and legal counsels for: all legal matters in the tribunal counsel office at all levels of court (BC Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Canada); post-decisional matters such as reconsiderations, corrections and clarifications, and complaints; freedom of information requests and privacy breaches; and legal advice to the WCAT chair and vice chairs.
