Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to join our growing team!

As a Legal Assistant (6-Month Contract), you will play an integral role in the Legal department working closely with the Litigation team to provide legal assistance to Insurance Defence – Accident Benefits and Tort files. This exciting in-house role is based in our Mississauga office (4 Robert Speck Pkwy).

Your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing support to assistants, clerks, lawyers, and management
    • Ability to organize legal documents and prepare indexes
    • Proficiency in dictation with a high degree of accuracy
    • Opening and closing files
    • Maintaining electronic filing system; ensuring electronic filing is up to date
    • Drafting correspondence and preparing court documents
    • Scanning and photocopying as needed
    • Preparation of standard pleadings
    • Scheduling appearances and updating legal counsel's diary accordingly



  Your Skills
 
  • A Diploma in Legal Office Administration or Law Clerk from a recognized post-secondary institution is required
  • Comfort using Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • A desire to develop your document management skills with the ability to learn and utilize Intact’s various software programs, including iMange, Citrix, ACL and Lotus Notes
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound proofreading skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Excellent communication, listening, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team or independently, exercise sound judgment and take initiative
  • Demonstrate a disciplined approach to work
