NorWest Co-op Community Health is currently seeking to engage an individual to provide legal services to clients in a women’s legal clinic in Winnipeg. The incumbent will be engaged as an independent contractor/practitioner. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Manitoba and have experience in family law, in particular with women who are victims of domestic violence. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of cases, work under pressure, meet deadlines, work independently and deal effectively with the public, legal professional and judiciary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will provide legal services in A Woman’s Place, will be required to attend court, and provide legal advice by phone or by appointment. The incumbent is required to manage assigned cases in an efficient and effective manner & other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will be compensated with an honorarium comparable to the Legal Aid pay scales, and will have the ability to direct bill Legal Aid.
