Job Description


The Human Rights Practice Group at Ross & McBride LLP is seeking a Law Clerk to provide support on both employee and employer-side human rights and employment law matters and litigation. You will work closely with our group of leading practitioners to provide timely and professional legal clerk services to very busy partners in the practice group.


In this job you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support with respect to the preparation, drafting, revising and finalizing of legal correspondence and documents
  • Preparing, compiling, serving and filing court documents
  • Manage process for scheduling and organizing Discoveries, Mediations, Human Rights Hearings, Speaking Engagements, etc.
  • Ensuring all hard copy and electronic filing is organized and up to date
  • Collating and binding briefs
  • Scheduling meetings and appointments
  • Maintain and organize client files
  • Managing email and mail correspondence
  • Carry out correspondence and communication with internal and external clients and other law firms
  • Maintaining lawyers’ calendars
  • Filing, photocopying, scanning etc.
  • Other general administrative duties as required


  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Law Clerk or Senior Legal Assistant in human rights and/or employment litigation. Law Clerk diploma wouldd be an asset
  • Able to take initiative, set priorities, multitask in a fast pace environment and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, organized and ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail with proofreading and editing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario Rules of Procedure
  • Advanced technical experience with MS Word, Outlook
  • PC Law an asset
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
