Are you an attorney that practices at the intersection of law and technology? We have a Hybrid - onsite and work from home opening for an attorney fluent in software licensing, development and integration transactions; SAFe/Agile software development; cloud; data privacy and security; as well as a dabbler in trademarks, marketing/sweepstakes, social media and website accessibility.
The Legal Counsel - Technology and Innovation supports Gordon Food Service and its various business units, divisions and locations on a North American level with navigating the ever-changing legal landscape. Serves as the primary provider of legal advice to the IT, business transformation, digital innovation, marketing and in a limited capacity, sales teams. This role is responsible for technology contracts, privacy, intellectual property, and marketing activities such as sweepstakes/promotions.
Oversees technology transactions, including software licensing and hardware procurement. This may include but is not limited to licensing agreements, systems integration service agreements and other contracts requiring drafting, negotiation, modification, and review
Authors the companies’ privacy policies and terms of use for its public facing websites as well as customer facing applications
Manages IP portfolio, including but not limited to, over 250 trademarks
Provides legal advice on sweepstakes, contests and promotions as requested by the sales and marketing teams
Interprets contracts, negotiating through disputes, audits, and managing litigation as it pertains to the foregoing
Owns privacy compliance, including researching new regulations affecting the business in all areas; conveying them to the business; developing compliance programs in cooperation with the business
Prepares training materials for business counterparts on various areas of substantive law, process improvements, and proactive risk mitigation measures
Recommends practical solutions and mitigating risk to the organization
Supports business personnel in projects to mitigate risk or that require legal input or guidance
Provides overflow legal support to the legal team upon request
Performs other duties as assigned
Our leading candidate will have:
Six or more years of post-licensure legal experience required in 2 more of the substantive areas described above
Experience working as an in-house lawyer comparably sized food industry company with a small legal department is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree
Certificate or license called to the bar/License to Practice Law required
