WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS:

This senior leadership position, reporting directly to the CEO (a former lawyer), will play an important role in shaping the future of our rapidly growing organization. As the first in-house corporate counsel, this role will provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice to all functions of the Lynx Air business, including operations, commercial, people and finance. You will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and play an important role in the implementation of Lynx Air’s strategy.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Provide legal advice on a range of business issues and transactions including consumer and marketing law; employment law; contractual negotiation and drafting; and regulatory compliance.
  • Review marketing materials and corporate communications to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Keep up to date with legal developments which impact the business and brief management on these developments.
  • Brief external counsel as required for additional expertise or bandwidth.
  • Participate in executive-level meetings covering business performance, business opportunities, and business strategy and planning.
  • Establish a framework for ensuring regulatory compliance across the business.
  • Establish templates for employment and other frequently used agreements.
  • Develop and draft policies to support legal and regulatory compliance across the business.
  • Educate the business and provide training as required on legal risks and responsibilities.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • A law degree from a recognized university
  • Must be admitted to a recognized bar
  • 5+ years of experience gained in a large law firm and/or in-house, preferably in a consumer-facing or highly regulated industry
  • Aviation experience is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: commercial, corporate, contract, consumer or employment law
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills
  • Strong business acumen, and a pragmatic approach to legal issues and advice
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization and across all businesses
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
