Gowling WLG’s Calgary office is currently seeking a motivated associate lawyer with 3-5 years of experience to join its Medical Defence Group, which includes:

  • civil litigation involving claims of medical negligence; 
  • assisting physicians with matters involving their hospital privileges; 
  • advising physicians in complaints to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and other administrative bodies, including the Alberta Human Rights Commission and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner; and 
  • advocacy before health and privacy tribunals. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • civil litigation and administrative law experience with a focus on the health sector; 
  • excellent academic credentials; 
  • strong analytical, communication and drafting skills and attention to detail;
  • proven client management skills; and 
  • a willingness to work closely with strong teammates, senior advocates and great mentors to provide exceptional service.
