This is a hybrid role located at dentalcorp's Toronto Support Centre. Working with the Legal and Compliance Department, you will be responsible for contributing to the achievement of key business priorities by ensuring compliance with the applicable legislation, as well as providing strategic proactive and reactive support to the business. As the Legal Assistant you will work closely with the Legal and Compliance Department to support our dental practices and internal stakeholders. The primary responsibilities of this position will focus on the drafting and contract management of associate dentist agreements, preparation of release documentation related to patient complaints and dismissal and administrative support to the Legal Department.

In this role, you will

  • Assist with sedation and radiation documentation, as well as licenses and renewals, to ensure compliance with the applicable provincial regulatory bodies and dental boards/associations
  • Support the Senior Law Clerk and Legal Counsel with corporate matters including but not limited to the issuance of share certificates
  • Support with scheduling, meeting minutes, research, and other administrative tasks as requested
  • Process and receive all legal invoices through the Coupa system
  • Drafting and contract management of associate agreements, amendment agreements, termination agreements and general contracts for the provision of services to support our practices
  • Manage and save all email correspondence and documents related to litigation matters
  • Reviewing and providing legal advice on regulatory matters across functional areas
  • Coordinating with the practice community to ensure that business activity adheres to dentalcorp's compliance program
  • Investigate, resolve and pro-actively manage patient complaints by drafting releases and assisting with other patient correspondence
  • Support the Legal and Compliance Departments on a wide range of strategic projects and process improvements related to risk and regulatory compliance

What we're looking for

  • Legal Assistant or paralegal diploma/degree
  • 3+ years of related experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Coordinator in a large corporation or law firm
  • Highly motivated and demonstrated abilities to work in a fast-paced environment, meet stringent timelines, prioritize work relative to business context, and handle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Ability to drive process improvements and manage projects
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with excellent judgment and analytical skills
  • Bilingual in English & French is an asset
