We are looking for a legal advisor who loves a challenge, wants to innovate and would like to experience personal growth on a dynamic and multidisciplinary team.

This position reports to the Manager – Governance in the Bank's Legal Affairs department.

Your role :

  • Be responsible for the corporate governance of certain subsidiaries of the Bank, by preserving their legal existence, maintaining their minute books, acting as corporate secretary at board and committee meetings and coordinating the filing of required corporate and regulatory reports.
  • Participate in certain projects such as corporate reorganizations, the organization of the Bank's annual shareholders' meeting and the drafting of related documents, the implementation of new guidelines, standards or regulations and the deployment of new tools or processes.
  • Contribute to the advancement of best practices in corporate governance.
  • Participate in the compilation of ESG data related to various questionnaires, ESG disclosures and related issues.
  • Provide legal advice and intervene in files having an impact on the activities and operations of the Bank and its subsidiaries.
  • Ensure legislative and regulatory monitoring in corporate matters.
  • Be proactive in your work environment, in particular by improving the quality of the services, systems and processes of the Governance team. 


Competencies required:

  • Bachelor's degree in law and a minimum of 3-4 years of experience
  • Member of the Barreau du Québec or the Chambre des notaires du Québec
  • Good knowledge of corporate law and governance
  • Knowledge of the securities industry, an asset
  • Team spirit and interpersonal skills
  • Focused on client experience
  • Diligence and attention to detail
  • Practical and pragmatic
  • Ability to multitask
  • Good judgment and business acumen
  • Bilingualism, spoken and written (English and French)
