Position Overview

Responsible for providing administrative and legal support to legal counsel including preparation and photocopying of materials for proceedings and hearings; preparation of reports and confidential opinions regarding municipal / commercial matters subject to solicitor-client privilege. Coordinates schedules, hearings, proceedings and meetings; prioritizes and ensures deadlines are met through coordination of work responsibilities with legal counsel. Provides administrative assistance and reception duties to the legal department as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Legal Assistant Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or suitable


  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a municipal / commercial legal environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to

detail and a high level of accuracy

  • Strong analytical, research and diligent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient keyboarding and computer skills, including advanced knowledge in Excel,

Word, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City’s core competencies and relevant

functional competencies.

  • Ability to work outside normal business hours, as required
