Job Description

TELUS is looking for a legal secretary to support an in-house Legal Services team.

Responsibilities in this position will include establishing and managing a variety of administrative and legal processes, interacting and communicating with all levels of management, completing travel arrangements, budgetary and calendar coordination, handling confidential material.

Here's How

  • Provide proactive, collaborative, administrative support to the Legal Services team.
  • Prepare spreadsheets, documents and presentations
  • Process a variety of material from draft format (dictation, handwritten notes) or detailed instructions, including letters, memos reports, contracts, legal documents, presentations utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Co-ordinate schedules and email correspondence
  • Co-ordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports
  • Experienced and self-motivated with superior administrative, analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to set priorities, juggles several tasks simultaneously, manages details, and anticipates needs
  • Functions effectively with minimal direction; and has flexible, mature and positive perspective
  • Use initiative, skill and experience to, organize complete and polish documents and presentations
  • Meet tight deadlines while ensuring high quality standards are met
  • Exercise sound judgment in regard to setting priorities and handling client requests and confidential material
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and proofreading skills combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; and
  • Apply strong problem solving and organization skills to prioritize work duties and handle multiple projects simultaneously



Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, ability to question and listen) to interact with clients, team members and external contacts in French and in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster successful working relationships within and across business units
  • Highly skilled experience using a PC and current software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Share information in a timely and constructive manner
  • Exhibits high level of energy, enthusiasm and determination, takes action on issues without external prompting, demonstrates strong sense of urgency and drives issues to closure despite setbacks, holds self accountable for achieving established performance objectives
  • Knowledge and office administrative procedures (e.g. requisitions, travel coordination)
  • Concise and professional business writing and presentation skills
  • A self-starter, able to thrive and show initiative with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact positively with a wide range of business people
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills are essential

Required Professional Certification & Experience:

  • 3 -5 years solid equivalent training and work experience
  • Exposure to administrative support responsibilities in a management environment
  • Experience using good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential issues
  • Successful track record working in a fast-paced, competitive environment (e.g. dealing with multiple tasks, tight timelines and peak periods)
  • Proven ability to work cohesively in a team environment
  • Experience in legal office administration is an asset
  • Legal Secretarial Program certificate is an asset
