Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Attorney General in fulfilling this mandate by serving as legal advisor to government in civil law matters. LSB provides legal advice to government and ensures that legal risks associated with government operations are reduced. LSB’s clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.
The Natural Resources, Transportation and Indigenous Legal Group (NATRIL Group) within LSB is seeking solicitors for one full-time permanent position within the Transportation and Land Unit of NATRIL, and one full-time 18-month temporary position within the Resource and Environment Unit (which may become permanent). The Transportation and Land Unit provides legal advice on transportation infrastructure projects and Crown Land transactions, and the Resource and Environment Unit provides legal advice on all aspects of natural resource law (e.g. environment, forestry, mines, oil & gas, energy, agriculture, water, wildlife, contracts, escheats) to a wide variety of government ministries. Both Units are advice-driven organizations that support government in the management and administration of the Province’s transportation corridors, Crown land management, and natural resources. Some tribunal work (e.g. representing clients before administrative tribunals like the Environmental Appeal Board) may be required. These two positions are for solicitors with excellent organizational, legal research and writing skills, who can work collaboratively with other counsel in LSB and with our instructing clients, able to manage multiple files with competing priorities, pressing deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
