ICBC, a $6 billion provincial Crown corporation that provides public auto insurance, driver licensing and vehicle registration in
British Columbia, is seeking an experienced General Counsel to help lead the successful implementation of transformational
change. With over 5,000 employees, as well as numerous stakeholders and partners, ICBC is dedicated to ensuring that our
products and services are affordable and meet the needs of our fellow British Columbians.
The General Counsel will manage corporate legal services comprised of the corporate law department and the privacy and
freedom of information (“PFOI”) department, a team of 50 people in the organization. They will help to shape the legal function
for ICBC especially given the shift away from a tort-based insurance system and will work in collaboration with legal in claims
and corporate law. The General Counsel will report to the Vice President, Corporate Affairs, and will be responsible for ensuring
the corporate law and PFOI departments provide accessible, quality, timely and practical solutions, all in alignment with ICBC’s
long-range strategic direction.
The successful candidate will hold a law degree and be licensed, or eligible to become licensed, in British Columbia and will
have experience leading high performing legal teams.
