We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Articling Student with a keen interest in Personal Injury to join our dynamic legal team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of Personal Injury cases under the guidance of experienced lawyers. Duties & Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive legal research on personal injury laws, regulations, and relevant case law. Assist lawyers in preparing legal documents tailored to personal injury cases, including Motions, mediation memo, case briefs etc. - Engage with personal injury clients to collect crucial information and evidence for their cases. Maintain a professional and empathetic communication style to address clients' concerns, often dealing with sensitive and emotional issues related to their injuries. - Accompany lawyers to court hearings, trials, and settlement conferences, actively participating in the personal injury litigation process. Take detailed notes, assist in organizing evidence and case materials, and support lawyers during courtroom proceedings. - Assist in drafting legal documents related to personal injury cases, such as discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements. - Support the management of personal injury case files, organizing documents, and maintaining an organized database of evidence, medical records, and correspondence. Regularly monitor and update case progress, ensuring timely filings and adherence to court deadlines. Requirements: - Law Degree: Completion or near-completion of a law degree from an accredited law school. - Articling Placement: Enrolled or eligible to be enrolled in an articling program approved by the Law Society of Ontario. - Interest in Personal Injury: Demonstrated interest and passion for personal injury, with a clear understanding of the unique challenges and intricacies involved. - Research and Writing Skills: Strong legal research and writing abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex legal issues and present findings concisely and effectively. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to interact professionally and empathetically with clients. - Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing legal documents and case materials. - Team Player: A collaborative and adaptable team player with a positive attitude, willing to learn from experienced lawyers and contribute to the firm's success. - Time Management: Efficient time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
