We are seeking a Lawyer to join our Practice Efficiency & Innovation department in the Firm.
The Practice Efficiency & Innovation Lawyer (“Innovation Lawyer”) supports multiple functions and initiatives that promote practice growth and service excellence. The Innovation Lawyer supports the firm’s legal project management function, which involves developing and managing roadmaps and pricing for legal matters, including the development and implementation of alternative fee arrangements, to improve the delivery of legal services, strengthen client relationships and enhance profitability. La Direction principale des lois sur les impôts de Revenu Québec, dont font partie la Direction de l'interprétation relative aux mesures québécoises particulières et la Direction de l'interprétation relative aux entreprises, c’est une équipe de plus de 35 personnes qui contribuent chaque jour à répondre aux demandes d’interprétation et de décision relatives, notamment, à la Loi sur les impôts.
En évoluant au sein de cette équipe, vous collaborerez avec vos collègues en vue de relever des défis stimulants. La rigueur et le professionnalisme sont des principes fondamentaux qui guideront votre travail au quotidien.
Votre quotidien à Revenu Québec
À titre d’avocate, d’avocat ou de notaire en fiscalité des entreprises, vous devrez
· produire des documents permettant d’établir et de communiquer la position de l’organisation sur le plan juridique;
· réviser, commenter ainsi que valider le contenu de guides, de formulaires et de relevés;
· apporter votre soutien au contentieux de l’organisation dans le traitement de litiges fiscaux, analyser les jugements rendus et soumettre des propositions;
· conseiller et appuyer le ministère des Finances du Québec en matière de politique fiscale;
· rendre des décisions anticipées ou convenir de telles décisions reflétant la position de l’organisation à l’égard des incidences fiscales de transactions;
· représenter votre direction, votre direction principale ou l’organisation à divers comités.
De plus, selon la direction dans laquelle vous travaillerez, vous aurez à remplir d’autres responsabilités.
Ainsi, si vous travaillez à la Direction de l’interprétation relative aux mesures québécoises particulières , vous devrez rendre des avis juridiques (écrits ou verbaux) en matière d’impôt sur le revenu (fiscalité des entreprises), notamment en ce qui concerne les crédits d’impôt relatifs à la recherche scientifique et au développement expérimental.
Si vous travaillez à la Direction de l’interprétation relative aux entreprises , vous devrezrendre des avis juridiques (écrits ou verbaux) en matière d’impôt sur le revenu (fiscalité des entreprises) ou d’impôt minier.

Les prérequis
Pour vous joindre à notre équipe, vous devez
· être titulaire d’un diplôme d’études universitaires de premier cycle équivalant à une 16e année d’études et reconnu par une autorité compétente dans le domaine du droit;
· être membre du Barreau du Québec ou de la Chambre des notaires du Québec;
· posséder un minimum de 2 années d’expérience dans le domaine de la fiscalité des entreprises;
· avoir le statut de citoyen canadien ou celui de résident permanent, ou encore être titulaire d’un permis de travail valide au Canada.
L’élément suivant pourrait être considéré comme un atout : détenir un diplôme d’études universitaires de deuxième cycle en fiscalité ou avoir suivi le Programme fondamental d’impôt de CPA Canada.

Salaire

Notez que, selon la présente convention collective, les avocates et avocats et les notaires ont droit, en plus de leur salaire annuel, à une prime de fonction juridique équivalant à 2 % du traitement versé pour chaque heure régulière rémunérée. Cette prime n’est pas assujettie à la cotisation au régime de retraite.
Notez que l’échelle salariale affichée est celle en vigueur au 31 mars 2023. Celle-ci sera revue suivant la conclusion des négociations collectives.

Who we are
The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it. We operate the province’s electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario’s electricity needs – now and into the future.
The opportunity (1 regular and 1 temporary position)
The IESO is seeking up to two new lawyers to join its legal team. The successful applicants will have a minimum of four years post-call experience, preferably working on complex matters in leading law firms or fast paced in-house environments. The position will depend on successful applicant experience.
Accountabilities
As a member of the Legal Department, Counsel will work collaboratively, advising on multi-disciplinary legal projects, providing strategic legal advice on a range of complex legal, regulatory, policy and business issues, ensuring that advice is linked to the organization’s strategic objectives, and acting as an integral part of internal and external project teams. Counsel will provide high-quality solution-oriented legal advice and guidance on a range of matters supporting IESO’s strategy and mandate, including:
Management of electricity generation contracts
Acquisition of new electricity system resources (including from electricity storage facilities) and management of energy contracts
Implementation of electricity conservation and demand management programs, and innovation and grid modernization initiatives, including through IESO’s grid innovation and hydrogen innovation funds
Electricity market operations including interpretation, administration and development of the IESO’s Market Rules and related matters
Interpretation and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
Transmission system planning
Disputes that may arise under or in relation to Market Rules or energy procurement contracts, and
General operations of the IESO, including matters relating to procurements of goods and services (including IT-related acquisitions), cybersecurity, non-disclosure agreements, freedom of information access requests, privacy law, records management, and related legal research
Who you are
A member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
We are looking for a minimum of 4 years post call experience in corporate commercial or transactional law gained either in a leading law firm or in-house law department setting. Applicants with more than 8 years post call experience may be considered for a Senior Counsel role.

Minimum Qualifications
Called to the Bar of a Canadian province.
