Lead, supervise and support Canadian legal department lawyers. Ensure timely, effective and professional legal support provided to the business and functional support teams. Liaise with other country lawyer leads and report to US Legal leadership as required. Manage department budget.
Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including complex client agreements, subcontractor agreement and vendor agreements, as well as amendments thereto. Improve contract management system as applicable.
Review and assist the business in preparing responses to requests for proposals, including legal review memoranda to identify risk issues and provide recommended solutions to minimize legal/business/financial risk.
Responsible for compliance initiatives and programs in Canada, including role of Chief Privacy Officer. This includes analyzing corporate processes, contract requirements and business unit activities to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, corporate policies (especially Business Conduct Policy, Gifts & Entertainment Policy and Contract Administration Policy) and business unit procedures.
Provide contract interpretation counsel and business law advice as required, including helping negotiate contract disputes. Engage and supervise outside counsel as required for any subject-matter-expert support. QUALIFICATIONS
J.D./LL.B
At least 7+ years of relevant legal experience with the Key Responsibilities, from a top law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department. Prior experience managing a legal team preferred.
Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario.

About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Director in charge of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT), the Assistant Director will be part of a civilian led team responsible for investigating incidents under Section 26 of the Nova Scotia Police Act and Section 24 of the New Brunswick Police Act . Primary Accountabilities

What You'll Do:
Create and execute legal team technology systems roadmap, working cross functionally with key stakeholders to maintain, enhance or integrate technologies

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing proactive and solutions based legal advice, ensuring that Ontario health complies with its legal obligations and mitigates business and legal risks. The Senior Legal Counsel may manage a team of Legal Counsel.

JOB DESCRIPTION Duties:
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who will assist 5-6 Legal Counsel and will take an active role in providing administrative support to BC Hydro’s Legal Services team. In addition to the duties below this role will also play an integral part in our continued transition to an electronic based records management system and will be part of the internal change management team supporting this ongoing initiative.
Provides confidential administrative support to 5-6 Internal Legal Counsel.
Maintains calendar, manages mail and directs client inquiries for 5-6 internal counsel lawyers
and Manager.
Maintains/coordinates physical and electronic legal files and follows Records Management
guidelines.
Informs lawyers and Manager of deadlines/action items and may draft replies for action items/
correspondence.
Determines and informs lawyers of any non-compliance issues, deadlines and action items to
ensure corporate compliance.
Participates in the planning and implementation of administrative systems with Legal
Administrative team.
Administers departmental financial functions for Time and Labour, Expenses On-Line, SAP SES
Processing (Payment of invoices) and ensures Managers and lawyers approve above in compliance with policies and timelines.
Manages and coordinates information between
sensitive info.
Drafts and edits various documents, reports, presentations, etc. for Managers and Lawyers.
Administers and tracks departmental assets including computers, office equipment and mobile
devices as needed. Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 with business and/or other professional development courses.

JOB DESCRIPTION Duties:
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who will assist 5-6 Legal Counsel and will take an active role in providing administrative support to BC Hydro’s Legal Services team. In addition to the duties below this role will also play an integral part in our continued transition to an electronic based records management system and will be part of the internal change management team supporting this ongoing initiative.
Provides confidential administrative support to 5-6 Internal Legal Counsel.
Maintains calendar, manages mail and directs client inquiries for 5-6 internal counsel lawyers
and Manager.
Maintains/coordinates physical and electronic legal files and follows Records Management
guidelines.
Informs lawyers and Manager of deadlines/action items and may draft replies for action items/
correspondence.
Determines and informs lawyers of any non-compliance issues, deadlines and action items to
ensure corporate compliance.
Participates in the planning and implementation of administrative systems with Legal
Administrative team.
Administers departmental financial functions for Time and Labour, Expenses On-Line, SAP SES
Processing (Payment of invoices) and ensures Managers and lawyers approve above in compliance with policies and timelines.
Manages and coordinates information between
sensitive info.
Drafts and edits various documents, reports, presentations, etc. for Managers and Lawyers.
Administers and tracks departmental assets including computers, office equipment and mobile
devices as needed. Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 with business and/or other professional development courses.
Two (2) to five (5) years office experience at an Administrative level with strong knowledge of
office practices and procedures.
Completion of Legal Assistant courses an asset.
Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, SAP, and SharePoint.
Ability to act independently with a high level of confidentiality, judgment, discretion, and initiative
where needed.
Good written, oral and interpersonal communications skills
Knowledge of BC Hydro and its operations/processes an asset.
Strong team player, with attention to detail, superior organizational skills and excellent
communication skills.
