If you have 3 years or more of experience working in a legal setting (whether as a legal assistant, law clerk, paralegal or other) and an inquisitive mind, consider this unique opportunity to work within the small legal department that services Giant Tiger’s needs across Canada. Organize newly incorporated companies, and manage resolutions, registers and other corporate-related documentation.
Carry out off-title searches with municipalities.
Responsible for and ensure accurate and timely records management (electronic and hard copy filing, archiving, shredding).
Drafting legal documents such as subleases and franchise agreements.
Provide support to Manager and Associate Vice President, Legal Services, on matters relating to leasing, franchising, corporate and trademark law.
Perform general administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence, proofreading, scanning, mailing, and ordering supplies.
Ability to identify and recommend suggestions to improve internal processes.
Work within a mostly paperless environment.
Maintain databases and tickler system.
Perform other duties as required of a legal assistant.
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a legal setting (whether as a legal assistant, law clerk, paralegal or other).
Experience preparing leasing and corporate-related documentation.
Enthusiastic about Giant Tiger and our brand.
Ability to handle sensitive information with high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken) to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent computer, research and writing skills with proficiency in MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as Adobe.
Ability to work independently and be proactive and self-starting.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work.
Punctual, dependable and flexible.
Education and Certification
Minimum education required: College Diploma
