McMillan has an exciting full-time opportunity as a Legal Support Assistant/Document Specialist in our Vancouver Legal Support Services Department. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in providing Legal Assistant overflow support as well as national document processing support.

What You’ll Do

The main responsibilities and duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Provide coverage for Legal Assistant vacations and absences as assigned by the Coordinator, Legal Support Services including drafting correspondence, filing, office and file organization, entering dockets and preparation of accounts, coordinating and scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars and bring forward systems, and other duties as required.
    • Provide advanced document processing support, including creating documents through transcription, copy-typing, and mail-merge; making document revisions; converting electronic files from one format to another; formatting documents; working with styles, bookmarks, cross-referencing, and tables, applying proofreading and editing skills to documents and correspondence.
    • Provide document-related troubleshooting support and problem resolution; promote firm standards wherever possible.
    • Participate in new technology and department initiatives; continuously strive to expand knowledge and learn new skills.

 

What You Bring

Your history includes a minimum of three (3) years of legal administrative assistant experience. You have strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. You are detail-oriented and are able to effectively meet deadlines, work well in a team setting, and provide an exceptional level of client service. You have solid leadership capabilities and enjoy a fast-paced working environment. You embrace evolving technology and have advanced Microsoft office 2010 skills. Experience in Litigation, Real Estate, Banking, Corporate Finance, Securities or Business Law (or a combination thereof) is an asset. Proficiency in Workshare Compare and other legal specific software is an asset. McMillan has developed an extensive training program that will prepare candidates for the position and expand their knowledge and skills.
