McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a Legal Administrative Assistant in our Toronto Commercial Real Estate Group. This is a contract position covering a one-year maternity leave. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in managing the legal and administrative aspects of the practices of three successful legal professionals.
What You’ll Do
You will be the go to person for your team who will depend on your guidance and support to keep them organized. As their champion, you will be involved in a wide variety of administrative tasks, including: supporting the day-to-day requirements of two Partners and one Associate with their Municipal, Land Use Planning, Construction and Expropriation practices; preparing daily correspondence and documents; assembling and filing of tribunal hearing documents including, but not limited to, affidavits, motion records and books of authorities; handling all administrative details with respect to filing, accounting, docketing and expenses; monitoring and maintaining tickler systems, schedules and calendars; opening and closing files as required.
What You Bring
You have established yourself as a key resource in your successful legal career. Your history includes a minimum of three years' experience as a legal assistant, preferably in Litigation or Administrative Law. Knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure. Experience working with the Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (formerly Ontario Municipal Board) is considered an asset, but not essential. You have strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. You are detail-oriented and are able to effectively meet deadlines, work well in a team setting, and provide an exceptional level of client service. You embrace evolving technology and have strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Prior experience with Desksite, IntApp and 3E or similar document management, file opening and accounting software required.
