The Constitutional and Administrative Law Group, Legal Services Branch, Ministry of Attorney General is seeking to fill a permanent full time Paralegal position in Victoria.

The lawyers in the Constitutional and Administrative Law Group are responsible for appearing on behalf of the provincial government at all levels of court and before administrative tribunals on often complex constitutional issues.  They also appear on judicial reviews of statutory decision makers on a wide range of topics including, for example, driving prohibitions, liquor licensing, health and environmental matters, and family law related issues.  With respect to constitutional matters, lawyers in this Group appear in court and before administrative tribunals in response to notices of constitutional question in a variety of contexts including on Rowbotham and other Charter applications, constitutional challenges to legislation or state action, and in complex actions that raise constitutional issues.
The Paralegal position provides services within the Legal Services Branch on large, complex, sensitive, high-profile cases, as well as in areas of high-volume litigation, which impact the delivery of Branch and Ministry objectives. These services include:

  • The management of case information including all elements of document management;

  • Legal research;

  • Drafting legal documents including affidavits, pleadings and bill of costs;
  • Dealing with witnesses, including experts;
  • Supporting legal counsel at all stages of litigation; and
  • Liaising with clients.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:


  • Secondary School Graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • Paralegal Certificate or Diploma
  • An advanced legal degree, such as a law degree, may be considered as an equivalent to a Paralegal Certificate.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in a litigation environment, including high-volume or complex litigation.
