Job Description

Department: Legal Department 

Summary of Responsibilities Pembina is currently seeking a Legal Counsel, Regulatory for a one-year term. Reporting to Pembina’s Manager, Associate General Counsel, the Legal Counsel, Regulatory will work in a team of eight lawyers as part of Pembina’s in-house legal team.  This role will provide legal support and services on a wide variety of regulatory and commercial matters.  Some of the more detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to;
  • Provide legal support and advice to Pembina’s regulatory, land, and environment groups;
  • Provide guidance and oversight on significant regulatory filings and project packages for Pembina and its subsidiaries in Canada and the United States;
  • Advise and provide updates on emerging regulatory issues;
  • Liaise with external counsel in Canada and the United States on regulatory matters for significant projects;
  • Assist on commercial matters, including reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial agreements; and
  • Co-ordinate the use of outside counsel on various additional corporate, commercial and litigation matters, as required.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of legal experience in regulatory law, gained either at a law firm or large in-house legal department;
  • Involvement in project work, corporate/commercial or oil and gas law is an asset;
  • Strong and effective written and verbal negotiation and communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to support group dynamics;
  • Self directed and motivated;
  • Able to quickly modify work priorities to meet unexpected and sometimes competing deadlines;
  • Knowledge of current industry standards and legislation to ensure practices are current and in compliance; and
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of people and job functions within the organization internally and externally.
