About the role

Responsibilities:

Conduct legal research in support of legal issues ranging from moderate to high complexity to facilitate the delivery of legal services, and expand personal knowledge and familiarity with CMHC’s programs and operations.
Liaise with management to identify potential legal risks and efficient mitigating strategies, and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
Consult and share information with the Legal Services Division team, and escalate issues that fall outside the scope of the position's legal expertise when required.
Instruct and manage outside counsel on matters assigned.
Manage client relationships by leading the delivery of legal services on assigned files and client groups.

What you should have (Minimum Qualifications):
Membership of a Bar in any province or territory (common law or civil law).
A minimum of two years’ post-ca ll legal experience, in private or public sector firms or organizations.

As an Access to Information and Privacy Counsel, Legal Affairs, you’ll:
Accountable for processing and responding to access to information and privacy requests, investigations, complaints and consultations within delay prescribed by law.
Collaborate with, and obtain alignment from, other PSP teams in the context of ATIP requests, consultations, projects, assessments and investigations
Provide advice and recommendations on disclosure of information in accordance with ATIP Acts, policies and directives.

As an Access to Information and Privacy Counsel, Legal Affairs, you’ll:

Sound judgment and legal reasoning, strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent attention to detail, strong negotiating, drafting, communication and organizational skills
Possess excellent knowledge of Word, Excell, Caselines and Superior Court of Justice document management systems, and the ability to learn Hydro One’s document and records management system
Demonstrated aptitude for developing working relationships with a broad range of professionals and stakeholders at multiple levels
Ability to handle and work with confidential and sensitive information
