Role

Dentons’ Toronto office is seeking a mid-level associate (3+ years of call) with excellent academic credentials to join our highly regarded Banking and Finance team. The person hired for this position will be part of a dedicated team and will support the practice by assuming such responsibilities as:

  • Representing creditors and borrowers, including banks, finance companies, private equity funds, hedge funds, public companies and private companies in financing transactions;
  • Contributing to a broad range of banking and finance matters, including secured and unsecured credit facilities, syndicated transactions, mezzanine and subordinated debt facilities, asset-based financings, acquisition, recapitalization and other leveraged financings across a variety of industries;
  • Documenting, structuring, negotiating and closing commercial finance transactions; and
  • Helping build relationships with clients.

Position Requirements

Personal Skills/Attributes

  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate advice to clients and colleagues clearly;
  • Has strong analytical skills and can offer unique perspectives on complex issues;
  • Embraces teamwork and values collaboration; and
  • Exhibits leadership and demonstrates initiative.

Technical Skills

  • 3-5 years of legal experience in commercial lending transactions with a law firm is required

Other Requirements

  • Must be licensed or eligible to practice law in the Province of Ontario and be in good standing
