Job Description

BLG’s Competition/Antitrust and Foreign Investment Group is currently recruiting an associate with 2-5 years of relevant experience to join its team in the Toronto office.

Applicants who have strong client management and teamwork skills are sought to assume significant responsibility in an active and diverse Competition/Antitrust and Foreign Investment Group practice. Previous experience advising clients operating across a wide range of industries on all aspects of Canadian competition law is required. Specific experience should include merger clearance, class actions, cartel investigations, private actions, advertising, marketing and distribution practices, abuse of dominance and other reviewable trade practices. The candidate should also have experience on the application of Canadian foreign investment review laws. The candidate must be a member of the Ontario Bar in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and appreciate the importance of providing business-focused legal advice to clients.

The successful candidate will enjoy a great deal of autonomy to develop their skills and career as part of a successful team. With BLG’s national ongoing professional development/legal education program, the successful candidate will obtain advanced training, mentoring and exposure to the firm’s clients while being supported to build their own practice and expertise. This is an ideal position for someone who can hit the ground running, is a consummate team player, has strong analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills, takes initiative, and seeks an opportunity to be allowed to further develop beyond their current skill level. The candidate will also be expected to manage multiple competing deadlines under strict timelines.
