About the role

Responsibilities:

Liaise with management to identify potential legal risks and efficient mitigating strategies, and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
Consult and share information with the Legal Services Division team, and escalate issues that fall outside the scope of the position's legal expertise when required.
Instruct and manage outside counsel on matters assigned.
Manage client relationships by leading the delivery of legal services on assigned files and client groups.
Communicate and negotiate with external parties.
Ensure legal requirements and their implications on CMHC are communicated and understood by key internal stakeholders.
Support other counsels, legal directors and senior management of the Legal Services Division in their respective roles in the achievement of the Legal Services Division's objectives.

What you should have (Minimum Qualifications):
Membership of a Bar in any province or territory (common law or civil law).
