Legal Counsel - General Municipal Services

Primary Responsibilities

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Reporting to the Deputy City Solicitor, Municipal Law, the successful candidate will deal with a variety of municipal law matters, with a focus on procurement and construction issues.

 

Responsibilities Include

 

  • Post-graduate university degree in law (LLB or JD) and member in good standing of the Ontario Bar.
  • Minimum 5 years of varied progressive law experience including experience in municipal and procurement law.
  • Experience in construction law is considered an asset.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing, and demonstrated to ability to work on teams.
  • Must demonstrate sound ability to provide advice and direction to members of Council, senior management and City staff, as necessary.
  • Organizational skills and the proven ability to work under tight deadlines and determine work priorities are necessary.

     

The successful candidate will be expected to work independently, as well as in divisional and various cross functional teams.

Hours of Work: 35 hour per week

 

Hourly Rate: $59.07 - $78.76
