KIK Consumer Brands – Household Division

Our Household Division (“Household”) is the #1 player in North American private label bleach, and supplies private label cleaning programs to prominent American retailers. Although Household started as a small bleach plant in Concord, Ontario, we have since expanded to a network of 8 plants strategically located across the United States to efficiently manufacture a variety of cleaners for both hard and soft surfaces. . In addition to its private label portfolio, Household manufactures and markets Greased Lighting® and The Works® branded products.


KIK Consumer Brands – Pool Division

KIK’s Pool Additives Division (“Pool”) is a leading player in North America and key international markets with a broad brand and product portfolio spanning both the Mass and Specialty Retailer channels. We are well known for our Clorox® Pool&Spa™ products in the North American Mass channel, our BioGuard® brand in the North American, Australian and South Africa Specialty channel, and our Bayrol brand across Europe. Our multi-functional product formulations and innovative water testing innovations allow pool owners to safely and easily enjoy their backyard retreat.



This opportunity is based out of our corporate office in Concord, Ontario, located near Jane St. and Highway 7.


Reporting to the EVP, General Counsel & Secretary, you will be primarily responsible for providing high quality, strategic corporate and commercial law advice and litigation management services to our contract manufacturing and prestige beauty businesses.


Key areas of these businesses include: sales and marketing, purchasing and supply chain, quality, research and development, innovation and human resources groups and plant operations, and special projects/assignments of strategic importance to the company.


You will be responsible for ensuring that company corporate matters, operations and business activities are conducted in accordance with the requirements of, and within the limits prescribed by, law and that the company’s rights are fully protected.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Providing high quality timely, strategic and prioritized corporate and commercial legal advice and support on a broad range of corporate, operational and complex contractual issues
  • Reviewing, preparing and negotiating contracts and other commercial and transactional documents and matters, including those relating to customers, suppliers, distributors, real estate, product liability, licenses, equipment leasing, service agreements, regulatory compliance and plant operations
  • Advising the business units’ sales and marketing, procurement and quality teams, including in respect of complex manufacturing, supply, branding, product development and regulatory compliance matters
  • Managing relationships with external lawyers, including monitoring and managing litigation and other specialized subject matters

  • Responding to inquiries with respect to interpretation of legislation and regulations as well as existing contracts affecting the company

  • Assisting in the development of precedents, legal policies, procedures and guidelines

  • Assisting the EVP, General Counsel & Secretary with the corporate secretarial and corporate governance function

  • Assisting with corporate and financing transactions and other special projects

  • Other duties as assigned



To Succeed, You Will Have:


  • Law degree and membership in good standing with the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in corporate and commercial law obtained preferably from a major law firm and/or corporate law department
  • Knowledge of the following areas of law: marketing and advertising, intellectual property and privacy
  • Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple files in an extremely fast paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines and competing demands
  • Heightened attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Strong drafting skills and contract interpretation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all business divisions within the company
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally
