: Sep 27, 2017, 4:00:00 AM Close Date (Period for Applying) - External : Oct 28, 2017, 3:59:00 AM  Unit Summary The General Counsel portfolio is responsible for managing the legal affairs of the organization, and provides support and advice on a variety of legal issues including privacy, regulatory compliance and effective governance of the organization. As well, the office of the General Counsel proactively identifies, manages and mitigates against organizational risk.  Position Summary  Reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel, the Legal Counsel will perform legal work including but not limited to advice and support in the following areas: commercial contracts, corporate policies and general governance matters, litigation oversight and oversight of the insurance portfolio. The role will support General Counsel in responding to the legal service needs of the organization as well as assisting with developing strategic advice and support to HHS, the Executive and the Board, as appropriate.  Schedule Work Hours Monday to Friday; days  Qualifications  1. Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized law school
2. Call to the Ontario Bar (Lawyer Licensed to Practice in Ontario)
3. Minimum 3-5 years of related legal experience
4. Knowledge of Insurance products, market and processes
5. Working experience in the health care sector, provincial ministries or other in house experience an asset
6. Knowledge of Health Law an asset
7. Experience or knowledge as to litigation process, administrative law processes and dispute resolution
8. Demonstrated initiative, independent thinking, conflict resolution and creative problem solving skills
9. Effective collaboration and team work
10. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
11. Strong communication skills – written, verbal, presentation
12. High level of integrity and trust
