Job Description

Our client, a small but rapidly expanding firm in North Calgary, has an opening for an Associate with Wills and Estates experience. If you have at least 3 years experience in this area and are looking to grow a thriving practice, this is a great opportunity. This firm also practices corporate commercial and real estate law (residential and commercial), so if any of those areas are of interest, it's open to practice in those areas as well as Wills and Estates.

Job Description:

Meeting with clients independently to take instructions;
Drafting wills and meeting with clients to sign;
Drafting documents for various types of estate matters, probate, Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Dependent Adult Applications, etc.;.
Take estate from instruction stage, application for Probate/Administration, calling in all assets (real property, investments, chattel, etc.), advertising, through to distribution and reporting; and
Advising clients on other wills and estates matters generally.
Job Qualifications:

Member of the Alberta Bar in good standing;
At least 3 years' experience drafting wills and advising clients independently on estate matters;
Must thrive in a team environment with the ability to work autonomously;
Excellent technical, drafting and client communication skills;
Experience in corporate commercial law, particularly in asset sales/purchases, shareholder agreements, employment agreements, etc. would be an asset; and
An interest in real estate law or previous experience in the same would be a welcome asset.
