In CMR legal services, our mandate covers a broad range of registrant and marketplace activities.  You will be expected to work on a wide diversity of matters, which includes developing policy, drafting regulatory instruments, considering applications for exemptions from securities legislation, participating in CSA committees or working groups, and reviewing rules proposed by self-regulatory organizations (SROs) and/or marketplaces. You may also provide legal advice and services in respect of:

You will work closely with other professionals at the Commission and other regulatory agencies, represent the Commission on national and local committees and at industry conferences, and provide advice to senior staff and Commissioners about policy and legal issues.

You are a seasoned securities lawyer with substantial securities industry experience and ideally with exposure to legal issues involving financial technology and/or market regulation issues. You must have membership in the Law Society of BC or be eligible for BC call.

Besides a sound knowledge of securities legislation, in depth familiarity with marketplace and trading activities and/or with the technology industry are assets. Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal) and sound judgment are necessary qualifications.
