The Corporate Legal Counsel will be a key part of Parkland’s dynamic legal team. This is a unique opportunity to work in a transactional intensive environment and support a broad range of real estate and other commercial projects across Canada.
Advise on commercial real estate matters in support of the business, including drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial leases and land purchases and sales;
Work with internal clients directly to provide guidance and support for strategic business initiatives, issues and objectives;
Provide legal support for commercial operations, supply and distribution contracts, and IT contracts; and
Provide legal support and advise on day-to-day operational issues in all areas of the business.
Qualifications and Skills :
3 to 4 years’ experience commercial real estate law;
Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent degree;
Must be a Lawyer called to the bar in Alberta or another Canadian province;
Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
Strong attention to detail and follow-up;
Ability to work under pressure, resolve problems and make decisions quickly and effectively, using a strong sense of self confidence;
Adaptability: Project management skills including the ability to work on various projects and prioritize accordingly;
Initiative: Independent assessment and evaluation of various issues and deficiencies and ability to find effective solutions using creativity, resourcefulness and expertise;
High energy: Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage concurrent projects;
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and sound legal and business judgement; and,
Demonstrated ability to work independently and also within a team.
