The Opportunity

Work closely with MNP’s General Counsel, provide legal advice and support in a broad range of practice areas and business units
Advise on matters related to securities, public companies and accounting standards
Contribute to aspects of regulatory issues involving the firm and its personnel and provide support on regulatory matters
Conduct high level legal research and provide advice to various leaders and executives
Draft concise emails and legal documents
Identify legal issues, research and analyze complicated situations quickly and develop practical solutions
Develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and work effectively with outside counsel
Write concise memos on regulations, legal/compliance matters and other ad hoc legal issues to support legal position and provide guidance to teams
Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
Skills And Experience
At least 10 years of post-call experience
Significant experience with securities, regulatory compliance, and corporate law
Exposure to public companies and transactions an asset

What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Senior Director, Procurement Contract Services you will use CIBC’s Supplier Risk Management framework to draft contracts, attend negotiation sessions and provide advisory support to the Procurement Organization and internal CIBC business partners on supplier contracts as well as perform stakeholder reviews on supplier risk management clauses where the Contract Services Group is the stakeholder. A Senior Contracts Specialist is expected to manage a large number of complex deals with competing priorities and be able to communicate status on workload with the Procurement Org team members that are being supported.
