ABOUT THE TEAM
As a member of PSP Investments’ Legal Affairs department, the incumbent will, under the direction of the Senior Director, Legal Affairs and in collaboration with the other Access to Information and Privacy (“ATIP") professionals, be responsible for activities relating to PSP’s compliance with the Access to Information Act (Canada) and privacy laws and data protection obligations applicable to its operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As an Access to Information and Privacy Counsel, Legal Affairs, you’ll:
Accountable for processing and responding to access to information and privacy requests, investigations, complaints and consultations within delay prescribed by law.
Collaborate with, and obtain alignment from, other PSP teams in the context of ATIP requests, consultations, projects, assessments and investigations
Provide advice and recommendations on disclosure of information in accordance with ATIP Acts, policies and directives.
Support wholly-owned subsidiaries of PSP in the application of applicable ATIP laws.
Review and validate the monthly proactive disclosure reports prior to disclosure in accordance with the Access to Information Act.
Ongoing refinement and scaling of the ATIP program, based on the evolution of applicable ATIP laws and the growth of the organization advice and recommendations on disclosure of information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
Monitor, report on and implement new requirements under applicable and ATIP laws and share relevant information with internal stakeholders.
Draft and update ATIP policies, procedures, guidelines, notices and other documentation.

As a member of PSP Investments’ Legal Affairs department, the incumbent will, under the direction of the Senior Director, Legal Affairs and in collaboration with the other Access to Information and Privacy (“ATIP") professionals, be responsible for activities relating to PSP’s compliance with the Access to Information Act (Canada) and privacy laws and data protection obligations applicable to its operations in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As an Access to Information and Privacy Counsel, Legal Affairs, you’ll:
Accountable for processing and responding to access to information and privacy requests, investigations, complaints and consultations within delay prescribed by law.
Collaborate with, and obtain alignment from, other PSP teams in the context of ATIP requests, consultations, projects, assessments and investigations
Provide advice and recommendations on disclosure of information in accordance with ATIP Acts, policies and directives.
Support wholly-owned subsidiaries of PSP in the application of applicable ATIP laws.
Review and validate the monthly proactive disclosure reports prior to disclosure in accordance with the Access to Information Act.
Ongoing refinement and scaling of the ATIP program, based on the evolution of applicable ATIP laws and the growth of the organization advice and recommendations on disclosure of information in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
Monitor, report on and implement new requirements under applicable and ATIP laws and share relevant information with internal stakeholders.
Draft and update ATIP policies, procedures, guidelines, notices and other documentation.
Act as a mentor and/or train more junior members of the team.
Develop, compile and maintain KPIs and prepare periodic reports for various internal teams.
Oversee preparation of internal and external ATIP reports.
Develop and maintain networks internally and externally in the ATIP community.
Attend ATIP meetings and training, as appropriate, and share knowledge of relevant learnings with the ATIP team and other stakeholders.
Oversee preparation of information to be included in InfoSource on an annual basis
Develop and deliver in-house ATIP training programs for employees/consultants customized to the needs of different stakeholders.

YOUR DAY TO DAY
Provide timely, pro-active legal analysis, advice, assistance, documentation, and training, as requested, or required, on a wide variety of business initiatives and other matter in accordance with the applicable legislation and PMI policies.
Provide full legal support to designated business and/or service functions/units. Follow and promote legal procedures to ensure that company's employees are aware of applicable legal requirements.

Act as a subject matter expert for RBH on the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act, PMI P&P 5-C (Competition and Fair Trade), PMI P&P 6-C (Intellectual Property), and PMI P&P 14-C (Non-U.S. Government Officials).
Monitor and direct services of outside counsel to ensure effective and economical legal work on matters that require specialized legal expertise.
Remain current and knowledgeable with respect to existing and pending legislation, ongoing litigation, and case law relevant to Company's business and provide accurate and timely information to Senior Counsel.
Coordinate compliance risk management activities by the management team, including coordinating a process of anticipating and evaluating compliance risks, designing, and monitoring implementation of mitigating measures, and periodically reporting on same to Affiliate Head.
What We Are Looking For
Law Degree

You will serve as a subject matter expert for commercial engagements, leading, drafting and negotiating complex client transactions, and providing advice on high impact and complex commercial transactions.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Provide legal support and advice to upper management on relevant legal issues
Daily activities include contract reviews, drafting deviation documents and legal memos, negotiating and working with the eternal corporate senior lawyers and various business groups
Ensure compliance with the internal controls, statutory regulations and other formalities
Provide legal analyses and risk assessments and participate in business decision making processes, providing practical and issue focused legal advice and recommendations in view of business needs and applicable legal and company policy requirements and standards
Review, draft, negotiate and manage legal aspects of all forms of commercial agreements, statement, including supporting pre-sales activities, in North America, and providing ongoing post-closing legal support

Execute procedures for protecting patents, trademarks, and industrial designs
Keep up with current changes on all relevant areas of laws and contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge base of the company’s legal function

What You Will Bring
Law degree and license to practice law in Ontario (multiple provincial licenses is a strong asset)
