Blaney McMurtry LLP is seeking a lawyer with 6-9 years of private practice experience to join our Commercial Litigation Practice Group. The candidate will expand their knowledge and experience in commercial insolvency and commercial tenancies law through assisting two partners with complex matters involving commercial insolvencies and commercial lease enforcement and operational issues, as well as independently handling their own files.
The successful candidate will have:
Familiarity with commercial insolvency and/or commercial leasing and real estate law with a strong desire to become more knowledgeable and experienced in these specialized practice areas Excellent advocacy skills with considerable experience appearing before various levels of court on complex commercial matters Strong drafting skills, with excellent attention to detail A superior work ethic and “client service” mentality Preference will be given to “hybrid” lawyers with both commercial litigation and transactional experience who wish to become proficient in the practice of commercial insolvency and commercial tenancies law.

We have an opening for a Corporate Law Clerk with a minimum of 4 years of Corporate Services experience to join our busy, well-established Corporate Services Department team for a maternity leave coverage (1 year+). Candidates must have skills and experience in the following areas:
Extensive knowledge of OBCA, CBCA, CIA, LP Act
Incorporations, amendments, dissolutions, revivals, continuances, amalgamations (long and short forms) both provincial and federal, and professional incorporations
Re-organizations including s.85 rollovers
Minute book reviews and ratification/update of same
Extra Provincial registrations and Extra Provincial Licences
Corporate searching experience
The candidate must also have the following:
Ability to work independently with strong follow up skills
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills.
Ability to work on multiple files with multiple lawyers
