Rogers Communications Inc. is Canada’s national communications company, engaged in three primary lines of business – wireless, cable and media. The legal department, which is comprised of more than 25 lawyers, advises on some of the most challenging and cutting edge issues facing the telecommunications and media industries in Canada. The legal department is currently looking to recruit an additional lawyer.
Real Estate Counsel (5-7 years)
You will work on a variety of real estate transactions critical to the business operations of Rogers such as leases, licenses, easements, access agreements and colocation agreements. You will also provide real estate support on property acquisitions, business acquisitions and other business transactions. In this role, alongside all of the above, you will also advise, as required from time to time, with respect to the ongoing use and operations for the company’s owned, leased and licensed facilities, including retail stores.
For this position, your analytical, drafting, communications and interpersonal skills are important to succeed at Rogers. You must also be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The Rogers Communications Contract Management team is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team of contract professionals that support vendor and partner contracting for our business customers and channels. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Contract Management, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for the creation, negotiation and closing of simple and complex customer and vendor contracts related to sales engagements involving one or more subcontractors. The Contract Manager will also lead the drafting of agreement templates for new product launches. Working with the appropriate Sales, Finance, Product Management, and Legal teams, the Contracts Manager will learn and apply the business and legal specifics of a number of products within the business sales portfolio to ensure proper sourcing and delivery of in-house and subcontractor service solutions to Rogers' business customers. Responsibilities
Work with various cross-functional organizations to help draft and negotiate various transactions involving Rogers’ subcontractors. Responsibilities will include identifying and assisting the team in resolving business risks at all stages of contracting.
Create and manage to signing customer-facing and subcontractor-facing Statements of Work (SOWs) for third party resale solutions, through collaboration with Sales, Product Management, Pricing, Service Delivery and Legal teams to ensure scope, deliverables and pricing are well understood.
Draft, with input from Product Management and Legal teams, agreement templates for new product launches.
Develop a strong understanding of new and existing business customers and subcontractor SOW precedents. Leverage appropriate customer and subcontractor SOW precedents for specific engagements, and make edits where necessary before presenting to Sales.
Understand applicable customer and subcontractor master contract(s) and obligations, and apply these when writing SOWs (with the support of Rogers Legal).
Closely track all document changes and communicate status updates to relevant team members on a regular basis.
Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and identify provisions relevant to third party supported solutions. Assist Bid Management team with response as a subject matter expert on third party supported solutions and impact on response.
Skills And Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a technology and/or business field. Master’s degree or Legal degree preferred.
5-7 years’ business or legal experience, preferably in the telecommunications or IT industry.
4+ years’ experience in SOW writing and editing.
3+ years’ experience negotiating and working with customer and vendor contracts. Solid understanding of legal terms and conditions required.
Experience working in a B2B market is required. An understanding of the sale of telecom or IT services, software and hardware is an asset.
Experience leading complex legal transactions preferred.
Experience reviewing and responding to RFPs preferred.
Knowledge of Procurement practices is an asset
Bilingual fluency in French and English (written and oral) required.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction.
