All Available Locations: Toronto   External Posting Description   Guberman Garson LLP (allied with Deloitte LLP) is accepting applications for the permanent, full-time position of Canadian Immigration Lawyer for our Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver offices..   The successful candidate will be responsible for advising clients with respect to obtaining temporary and permanent status in Canada. This includes all types of work permits (including but not limited to International Agreements, LMIA, reciprocity, significant benefit, open permits, post graduate permits, CSQ), permanent residence (Express Entry, CEC, Federal Skilled Workers, PNP, Family Class, Quebec immigration), temporary resident visas, inadmissibility issues, permanent residence issues (PR card renewal, residency obligations, travel documents), citizenship matters. This role requires excellent multi-tasking skills, organization and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of clients from corporations to individuals.   We are seeking an individual with 1 to 3 years of experience in Canadian immigration law and experience in Quebec immigration matters.   Role And Responsibilities   Analyzing facts and law to determine the most suitable application and process; Assessing cases to advise as to the appropriate work permit category as well as identify and resolve any potential issues; Reviewing and assessing client documentation in order to evaluate applicants' qualifications; Preparing applications and providing advice throughout the application process including extensions and amendments, if applicable; Writing submission letters, drafting immigration forms and submitting application to the appropriate office; Keeping abreast of changes to laws, regulations, manuals, policies, procedure and process federally, provincially and in Quebec; Filing applications to the port of entry, case processing centre, central intake office, on line, embassy/consulate, EDSC and MIDI as is appropriate; Advising clients as to legislative changes and how it will impact their file or business; Communicating updates on immigration process to clients; Following - up on pending matters to ensure activities reach a timely conclusion; Handling a high volume of immigration-related matters; Advising clients on the application of the relevant laws to their situation by carefully analyzing the case and considering all facts and options; Developing solutions to legal issues; Appropriately managing client expectation; Staying on top of deadlines; Reviewing forms and documents provided by clients and providing feedback, where applicable guiding an administrative assistant with respect to same.   External Posting Qualifications   Law degree from an Canadian law school; Membership in good standing with the Law Society and Barreau du Quebec; Immigration law experience mandatory, with exceptional knowledge of immigration practices and procedures; Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills within a fast-paced environment; Strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines; Strong organizational and computer skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Outstanding time management skills.   Guberman Garson LLP (GG) is a highly reputable, experienced, and client-focused law firm practicing exclusively in the area of immigration law.
