This role is responsible for a full range of legal administrative duties and supporting multiple lawyers and paralegals in Corporate Secretarial and Finance Law.   What you'll do Assisting with the preparation of legal documents, including certificates of incumbency, disclosure documents such as Annual Information Forms and Management Information Circulars, resolutions, agreements, legal entity organizational charts, correspondence and reports Manage debt covenant compliance program with oversight from lawyers Managing all forms of information using department and Company document management processes, such as Diligent, iManage and Workiva Collaborate with team colleagues to establish internal team administrative processes Providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings and appointments, ordering supplies, time recording, preparing expense reports for lawyers Handling confidential information in a professional manner Manage forms of external legal retainers and provide analysis, input and reports on matters relating to external legal services using legal-specific systems Other duties as required.   Minimum Qualifications Grade 12 education required; post-secondary education and/or legal secretarial training Minimum 6+ years administrative assistant or related experience Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Adaptable and able to learn news systems and processes Ability to work occasional overtime, with the possibility of frequent overtime in January and February.   Preferred Qualifications CORES Level 1 or willingness to obtain this designation Experience with Workiva and the WDesk platform Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to quickly and efficiently learn new technology and systems Ability to work both independently and as part of the team including supporting others, as required Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders Resourceful and genuinely interested in assisting and problem solving Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to find solutions that meet varying needs Effective communicator; can communicate at all levels of the organization Proven ability to deal with confidential information and materials Superior organization skills with the ability to build, maintain and manage filing systems Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of email documentation and filing.   To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid   About our business   TC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company in North America. Reporting to the Director, Litigation & Employment Law, this professional will support the team in both conducting and managing litigation and arbitration matters involving TC Energy and its subsidiaries. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from seasoned legal professionals on complex, varied disputes.   We are seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel who has knowledge and experience in commercial litigation and arbitration matters. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to support the litigation and arbitration process, identify legal risks and provide strategic legal advice tailored to the needs of the business unit.   What you’ll do This Legal Counsel will support the full cycle of the litigation or arbitration process, starting with initial file assessment and fact gathering, through the pleadings, discovery, trial and/or settlement phases. Specific tasks include: Conducting initial file assessment and review, including interviewing witnesses and fact- gathering Conducting legal research and preparing research memorandums Assisting with document identification, collection, review and production Drafting legal memorandums, pleadings, applications and briefs Assisting with or conducting questioning Assisting with trials or hearings; and, Drafting settlement agreements and releases.   Minimum Qualifications 2-4 years’ experience in litigation LL.B, J.D. or equivalent from a recognized University Active member in good standing of the Law Society of Alberta   Preferred Qualifications Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills Experience with complex commercial, construction, and employment disputes, and bankruptcy and insolvency matters Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities within tight timeframes Flexible, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, constantly changing environment Solid judgment and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities Experience with LawBase Matter Management, Open Text, Axcelerate Review & Analysis and, Legal Hold Pro, or other similar systems   This position requires candidates to: Have current, valid authorization to work in Canada Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico) Be part of an on-call rotation as Legal representative in Corporate Emergency Operations Centre and provide emergency support as required Successfully complete pre-employment Bankruptcy, Credit, Civil and Criminal background checks   To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
