Job description Hinton Open competition March 24, 2017 Legal Administration 2 Justice and Solicitor General The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice. In addition, ACPS develops criminal law policy for the province and supports criminal law consultation with other levels of government. We are looking for a legal assistant to assist the Crown Prosecutors office in achieving its goals. As a legal assistant with the Prosecutions Branch in Hinton, you will prepare a variety of correspondence and legal documents; assemble and file court documents; maintain a master diary for court dates; respond to telephone inquiries; and liaise with police and investigators, court personnel, defense counsel and outside agencies. The ideal candidate is committed to, and experienced in the criminal justice system. The successful candidate will have strong file management skills and problem solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and ensure a high degree of accuracy. The successful person will be collaborating with various internal and external clients, requiring effective oral and written communication skills. A two year Legal Assistant diploma and one year related legal experience. Experience with Microsoft Office, JOIN, and Quicklaw programs would be considered assets. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. $1,997.64 - $2,456.16 bi-weekly. This is a temporary position for a one year term. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.
