The Criminal Resolution Office (CRO), is currently seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Criminal Resolution Office Lawyer, to represent clients in Provincial Court (Criminal), through to the resolution of their matters, and to advise and assist unrepresented individuals in Docket Court. Must reside or be willing to relocate to Fort McMurray, AB. Job Description Major position responsibilities are to represent clients through the initial stages of their matters through to the resolution. In addition, responsibilities include acting as Duty Counsel in Fort McMurray Criminal Adult and Fort McMurray Regional Criminal, Provincial Court which includes interviewing individuals both in and out of custody assisting them with their court appearances, conducting bail hearings and dispositions as necessary in docket court. The Criminal Resolution Office Lawyer will also carry a file load of clients to represent them in the preliminary stages of a criminal file and to assist them with a timely resolution of their matters. This position also provides Legal Aid clients with legal information and advice, and refers individuals to other agencies and programs. Fly-in, Fly-out travel will be required to Fort Chipewyan circuit court. Qualifications The successful candidate must have a law degree from a recognized law school, membership in the Law Society of Alberta, and experience in general practice. Criminal trial and family law experience is considered an asset. Minimum 5 years of experience. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Northern Living Allowance provided.
