As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be in charge of
Supporting and providing advice to internal clients and protecting the interests and assets of Danone Group’s businesses operating in Canada, including in its divisions of dairy products, plant-based products, bottled water and medical nutrition.
More specifically
Provide legal advice to various internal clients, including Marketing (advertising, products, food law, labelling, claims, publicity contests, etc.), Sales (contracts with clients, promotions, competition law, consumer protection, etc.), Digital (web sites, social media, data privacy, confidentiality, anti-spam law, etc.), R&D (intellectual property) and HR (contracts, policies, relationship with employees, etc.);
Manage trade-mark portfolios;
Manage and coordinate legal work done by external legal counsel;
Monitor and anticipate the main legal trends;
Provide legal trainings to the main stakeholders (internal departments, external agencies);
Support the legal department in its corporate compliance initiatives;
Work closely with colleagues from all over the world.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and competencies
Member of the Quebec Bar and/or of any other Canadian province;
Minimum 5 years’ experience in one of the following areas (varied experiences would be ideal) business law, food law, marketing and advertising law, trade-marks and patents, labour and employment law;
Strong legal analysis and negotiation skills and ability to synthesize and effectively prioritize;
Fluent bilingualism (English and French, spoken and written)
Ability to collaborate and work with multidisciplinary teams;
Show leadership and highly autonomous.
